Special Issue on Theoretical Foundations and Engineering Applications of Multidimensional Empirical Mode Decompositions
Guest Editors: Nii Attoh-Okine (University of Delaware, USA, Angela Kunoth, Universitaet Paderborn, Germany)
Analysis of multidimensional data like images is one way to detect underlying processes of many natural phenomena. Data classified as nonstationary, inhomogeneous, or nonlinear calls for analysis methods that are adaptive to the nature of the data. But often methods which decompose multidimensional signals utilizing an a-priorily selected basis are not appropriate.
The objective of this special issue is to bring together state-of-the-art research in adaptive data analysis methodologies and their applications with emphasis on image and multidimensional data analysis. We particularly invite papers which address issues related to adaptive decompositions and basis generation for multidimensional data and the development of a theoretical foundation for the Hilbert-Huang Transform.
