The Asia-Pacific Journal of Operational Research (APJOR) was founded in 1984. APJOR publishes papers on theory, technology and applications of Operational Research (OR), with the aim of providing a professional forum for practitioners, academics and researchers in Operational Research and related fields, within and beyond the Asia-Pacific region. APJOR is a peer-reviewed journal that is currently published quarterly and will be published bimonthly from 2007. To further enhance the publication of excellent papers in promising research areas of OR, the Editor-in-Chief invites proposals for APJOR Special Issues to be submitted.
Proposals for APJOR Special Issues can be received all year round without a specific deadline. In general, a special issue should reflect the state-of-the-art, currently relevant and leading edge topics in OR research or application areas of significant importance. Topics in special issues can either include areas that are just reaching significant impact and maturity, or important emerging areas in which future research is likely to be significantly furthered. Special issues can also comprise of papers from a recent OR conference that have been rewritten to ensure high quality content. A special issue should consist of about 8 papers with a well-articulated unifying theme. It will typically include at least a survey article of the research in the area of focus, and/or an editorial summary explaining the overall theme and its significance.
Proposals for Special Issues should be submitted to the Editor-in-Chief with the following information:
- Name and affiliation of Guest Editor(s).
- CV and list of major publications of Guest Editor(s).
- Proposed theme and topics.
- A description of the scope, relevance and significance of the proposed theme and topics to the OR community. It should also include a list of potential authors who may reasonably be expected to submit papers, other related publications or conferences that might constitute evidence for choosing the theme and topics, as well as other similar materials.
- A proposed Call for Papers document including the theme, a short rationale for the considered topics, and a suggested time schedule from call for papers for the issue to the publication of the issue.
Selection of Special Issues will be made by the Editor-in-Chief, in consultation with senior members of the APJOR Editorial Board. The review procedures of submitted papers are similar to those for regular issues, with the Guest Editor playing the role of an Associate Editor. In the event that the number of accepted papers is not sufficient to warrant an issue, a Special Issue may end up only with a Special Section in a regular issue. Usually, a special issue or special section will be scheduled for publication within 3 months upon completion of its review process.
