Honorary Mentions of IJAM Editorial Board Members
There have been several elections of IJAM Editorial Board members:
Professor Huajian Gao, the editor of the International Journal of Applied Mechanics (IJAM), has been elected to the National Academy of Engineering, USA, this year. Election to the academy is considered to be among the highest professional distinctions accorded to an engineer, and its membership honors those who have made outstanding contributions to the engineering research, practice, or education, including, where appropriate, significant contributions to the Engineering literature, as well as to those who pioneer new and developing fields of technology, making major advancements in traditional fields of engineering, or developing/implementing innovative approaches to engineering education. Professor Gao was also awarded the Rodney Hill Prize in 2012, a quadrennial award in the field of solid mechanics.
Professor Tongyi Zhang and Professor Xiaojing Zheng, members of the IJAM editorial board, have been elected to be members of the Chinese Academy of Science in 2011 and 2009, respectively. Being awarded a membership by the academy is considered to be the highest academic title conferred by the Chinese government for achievements in science and technology research.
In addition, Professor Zishun Liu, Editor-in-Chief of IJAM, has been elected to be the President of the Singapore Association of Computational Mechanics (SACM) in 2011.
